A truly beautiful place to enjoy the sunset

Coming from below you can still get to the hut. But then it's more or less the end. Unless you clear the way yourself. Everything is overgrown.

It would actually be helpful if the path continued. Everything is now overgrown. I then had to work hard to clear the path.

The path from the top down to the hut is a complete disaster. We were there on May 25th, 2024 and had to walk through meter-high nettles. The rest of the path was so overgrown that we took a wrong turn and ended up not even at the hut, but walking "opposite" on the slope. I have no idea what the path looks like from below, but it was enough for us. I'm not usually picky and love adventurous paths, but this really wasn't nice.

We were at the hut today. It is clean and the view invites you to linger.... We went up with two children aged 6 and 10. They shouldn't be any smaller, as you hike partly on logging roads/unpaved meadow paths. The descent is also a bit challenging, as it is a fairly steep path. So only do it when the weather is nice.

A very beautifully located rest hut above the Birktal. The fact that the hut is not on a crowded hiking trail is noticeable: very clean and hardly any graffiti/carvings. Everyone who visits the hut should treat it with respect so that the Kipfenberg hiking friends can enjoy their hut for a long time.

This is what the shelter looks like now. (A tree has fallen into the roof above) What a pity. As we hiked along the path, dozens of trees had fallen and we had to scramble up and down several times. So be careful if you want to walk the path at the moment, you have to reckon with major impairment. As of January 23.
