The name itself makes it clear that this is not a natural body of water, but rather that the area of today's lake was used commercially in earlier times: The natural material clay was mined. Instead of filling the resulting pit after completion, the lake was created.

The Redoutenpark is located behind the Redoute and on a hillside. In Komoot there are two highlight entries for the Redoutenpark, which I find confusing.

The park is small and a little out of the way, but very well maintained and tastefully laid out. It's easy to lose track of time here. The city green space office is next door.
