The small, often bluish-tinged pool in the Einsiedlerbachtal (Einsiedlertal) in the Siebengebirge mountains is not a natural pond, but a relic of historic mining. It is the former machine shaft of the "Glückliche Elise" mine. The winding machine once stood there. It brought the ore to the surface via a vertical shaft – at precisely this spot, the pool, which now has a metallic blue shimmer, was formed by silting. A brick arch is also said to be visible nearby, part of the mine's washing plant. Unfortunately, I couldn't find this arch.

Geologically interesting, enchanted, beautiful to look at.

The name is once again misleading: Of course, the local hiker knows that there are by no means several lakes visible from this spot. Rather, it is the "good old Father Rhine," which can be seen several times, seen here from above.
