Make sure you are in good shape and do not underestimate the number of kilometers. In the Netherlands this would be a very tough walk. There are water points. Spring water and delicious but after 5 km there is nothing left. If in doubt about your condition do not do it. Bring a survival blanket.

Tavern at the exit of the gorge highly recommended! Try the homemade salad 🥗😋. If you need a taxi, you will be helped with a smile ☺️

The gorge is home to the endangered Cretan wild goat, you can find a wide variety of trees here (cypress, pine, maple, oak, holm oak...) and in the lower part you walk through a sea of flowering oleander in spring.

This sycamore maple must be very old, the stream bed is now several meters deeper, it is impressive how vital the tree still is.
