Y Garn is a fine hill, usually climbed from Ogwen Valley by it's West ridge, or as part of the walk along the Glyders range between Elidir Fawr and the Glyders themselves. There is however another way up, the East Ridge, which is a Grade 2 scramble and starts from Llyn Idwal.

Cool cave that many people walk past, going on for quite a bit!

Llyn Idwal is a lake (approximately 800 by 300 metres, or 28 hectares) in Cwm Idwal in the Glyderau Mountains of Snowdonia. On the north-western edge of Llyn Idwal is a small pebble beach, which is occasionally used by visitors for recreation. Swimming is not permitted as it is in a nature reserve.

It can be windy and cloudy here. There are marks to find a trail in the cloud. Also on the top there is a nice area to hide from wind and rest. If not in the cloud, the view is awesome

Fan Brycheiniog is the highest summit of the Black Mountain and is a superb viewpoint. Been coming up here for years from a variety of directions, mainly with work. My favourite route is from Llyn Y Fan Fach, it's one of the finest ridge walks in Wales. Winter or summer, this is great place.

The views down onto Llyn Y Fawr from here is pretty spectacular. This is one of the nicest places in the Brecon Beacons to walk along. Once you have put in the effort to get here, the ridge has a good footpath, there's a nice walled shelter and the views down towards the lake is pretty awesome on a good day.

A quieter route that leads to the lake. Beautiful and challenging. ideal for all weathers.

Llyn Llydaw (the name comes from the Welsh and means Brittany Lake) is a long, thin lake. It is one of the most visited lakes in the UK. Many walk past this lake on the Miners' Track.

Llyn y Fan Fawr is a natural lake in the county of Powys, Wales. It lies at the foot of Fan Brycheiniog, the highest peak of the Black Mountain range within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Created as a result of glacial action, it is one of the largest glacial lakes in southern Wales. The lake is roughly rectangular in shape with its long axis oriented roughly north–south.

Picws Du is the second highest peak of the Carmarthen Fans in the Carmarthenshire section of the Black Mountain in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park in south Wales.Picws Du is formed from the sandstones and mudstones of the Brownstones Formation of the Old Red Sandstone laid down during the Devonian period. Its summit and southern slopes are formed from the hard-wearing sandstones of the overlying Plateau Beds Formation which are of upper/late Devonian age.

A large and grassy mountain, in the Glyderau range. With a summit of 914 metres above sea level, Y Garn is the 10th highest of the 15 Welsh 3000s. Y Garn translates to "The Rock or The Cairn", making it a relatively common name for a mountain, resulting in this Y Garn, being one of four Y Garns in Wales, but this one is the biggest and arguable the most majestic! On a good day, the summit provides unmatched views of the North Wales coast, Snowdon and the Ogwen Valley.

I have been coming up here now for about forty years. There are a variety of routes to here, but each one brings you to this one spot. These lumps of stone and the views are drop-dead gorgeous. Top it off with a visit to the pub afterwards, and it's a good day out. It's also a good run—before you get to the pub, of course!
