The Sant Nicolau river has its origin in the Estany Llong and is fed by the waters of at least twelve lakes during its brief journey until it reaches the Noguera del Tor. Despite its short length, its force is intense, as it crosses one of the most captivating valleys of the Aigüestortes National Park. This valley is surrounded by imposing mountains and forests that have a particular charm.

The cable car takes you from about 1700 to 2100 m and thus to a good starting point in the southern Aigües Tortes area. More accessible and less crowded than from the northeast via the Estany de Sant Maurici.

In an emblematic place such as the Vall Fosca, at an altitude of 2,200 meters, we will cross an old train track, currently in disuse, and we will cross its tunnels. If we go with children, I recommend taking a small flashlight for the tunnels, some are a little longer or have the occasional puddle.
