The castle was built in a relatively short time and has dominated Woerden's city center ever since. The first mention dates from 1415 and can be found on a drawing for the castle's construction. De Haar Castle (formerly Het Huys te Haer) is a monumental castle in the Utrecht village of Haarzuilens. It is the largest castle in the Netherlands. It was built in 1892 in the Neo-Gothic style on the ruins of the old castle from 1391. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The grand reception hall is incredible 🥰 The castle is still privately owned today - the family lives in Paris and uses the castle itself every September. The rest of the year, it is a museum.

The medieval castle can be visited and there is a nice cafe. You can however not bring your bike. You need to leave it at the bike parking, so make sure to bring a lock.

Certainly one of the most beautiful castles in the Netherlands next to Loevestein. You should definitely take part in a guided tour.
