ミュールハウゼンのインネレ・フラウエントールは、中世の都市要塞の重要な遺物であり、この都市で最も重要な歴史的建造物の一つです。旧市街の北西に位置し、かつては都市への主要な入り口の一つとして機能していました。この門を通して、商人、旅行者、訪問者が都市内部に入り、経済的にも軍事的にも重要な役割を果たしていました。フラウエントールという名前は、マリア教会、いわゆるフラウエン教会に直接通じていた通りに由来しています。 建築的には、高い門塔と前方に配置された門番詰所からなる、いわゆる二重門構造です。これら二つの部分の間には、ツヴィンガーと呼ばれる狭く特別な警備が施された区域がありました。この構造は防御のために役立ち、攻撃者は万が一の際に門の間に閉じ込められ、より容易に撃退することができました。 元の門は中世、おそらく13世紀に建てられました。都市の火災の後、1655年に今日見られるような形で再建されました。時間の経過とともに都市構造は変化し、要塞の一部は解体されたり、増築されたりしました。例えば、別のフラウエントールは1830年に姿を消しましたが、その平面図は今日でも舗装に示唆されています。 今日、インネレ・フラウエントールはミュールハウゼンの内壁に残る唯一の門であり、都市の歴史にとって特に貴重な証拠となっています。ドイツで最も保存状態の良い中世の都市要塞の一つであり、多くの訪問者を引きつけています。現存する城壁部分とともに、かつての中世の都市がいかに強力に要塞化され、組織化されていたかについての鮮明な印象を与えています。

In the northwest, the Frauentor was one of the four main gates of the inner city wall that led into the free and imperial city of Mühlhausen. Like all main gates, it was designed as a double gate system with a moat. The inner Frauentor - originally designed as a multi-storey tower - had a lower gatehouse in front of it. In between, parapet walls flanked the Torgasse. The "middle" Frauentor, so named to distinguish it from the gate of the outer city wall, was demolished in 1830. Its floor plan is shown in the road surface. The inner Frauentor received its current appearance in 1655 after a city fire. The walled-up city coat of arms comes from the former Pfortentor. In the 19th and 20th centuries, three gates were broken into the city wall next to the gate to accommodate the constantly increasing volume of traffic.

The Frauentor is the only one of the former city gates of the inner city wall in Mühlhausen that has been preserved. In the immediate vicinity, from Herren-/Holzstraße, is the entrance to the city wall, which is accessible for a length of around 370 meters.
