Canale di Cicerchia is a drainage canal tributary of Lake Fogliano. It has been included in the European Rewetland project for water purification through a natural filtering system. Cicerchia (Lathyrus sativus L., 1753) is a legume widely cultivated for human consumption in various continents. It is a particularly important crop in areas prone to drought and famine, called insurance crop because it provides a good harvest when other crops fail. Cicerchia contains a neurotoxin that can cause problems if consumed in large quantities.

It is not possible to travel the entire route, but the part from Villa Fogliano to Sabaudia is worth the trip alone!

Unfortunately, a complete tour of the lake by bike is not possible.

Eastern side of Lake Fogliano

From the east side you can access (it seems) up to Villa Fogliano, but the sign says otherwise
