An incredible place for glimpses and lights

Nice climb of about 2km with acceptable gradients (4/5% average). The road that leads to the mausoleum is all asphalted but there is also the possibility of taking dirt sections. It is closed to traffic.

This circular mausoleum stands right up in the middle of Monte Orlando. It actually dates back to 22 BC, who would have thought that? But it looks very well preserved. It has a diameter of almost 30 meters. An impressive sight. You can't go inside, but you can peek in through a lattice door. You should do that!

When I was there the mausoleum was closed. The views along the route certainly make the climb worth it

The name "Trabacco" derives from the Spanish "trabajo", which means work-effort. As the name of the place indicates, mainly gunpowder was kept here.

In this statue of the Blessed Mother, which was erected in the Parco Urbano Monte Orlando, she is invoked under the title "Mary, the help of Christians" (Latin: "Sancta Maria, auxilium christianorum"). In the course of church history, but above all of popular piety, innumerable titles have been found for Mary, with which believers have turned to her; see, for example, the so-called "Lauretanian Litany". With their invocation "Santa Maria Ausiliatrice", the builders of this monument, which is in an exposed position, certainly wanted to give a widely visible expression of the request for the intercession of the Blessed Mother for the country - and above all for the people living there.

Unique and cool spot, shoudl really visit.
