Sandstrand am See

The former quarry pond is very picturesque next to the noisy motorway. This is also the reason for its creation: Gravel was extracted here in 1967 - 1969 for the construction of the Autobahn feeder road to Freiburg-Mitte. You can partly walk along unpaved paths along the shore. But bathing is not allowed. In the meantime, however, it is possible to fish here again with the appropriate permit. What you don't see in the lake: It is the lake with the highest level of nutrients in Baden-Württemberg. This is also due to the proximity to the Rieselfeld, where sewage from Freiburg was drained for a long time. However, since measures were taken in 2009 (inlet and outlet were created, floating system for water circulation on the lake), life has returned to the bottom of the lake at a depth of up to 12 meters.
