BEWARE: If you are going to Dicks Camp...DO NOT MISS THE BIG WATERFALL - I missed it as there were lots of cars blocking the view of the path... When you turn off the H2 onto Waitawheta Road it is an immediate right after the bridge the waterfall... IT IS HUGELY BEAUTIFUL - more beautiful than the one you see on my Komoot.

Dickey's Camp is a wonderful place to camp with a tent. However, the nearest shop is 12 km away. So if you are on foot or by bike, plan enough if you want to stay for several days. And... swimming in the river... WHOW!!!

Headlamp not needed for bikes or walkers as there's lighting. It can get cold so on a hot summer day it can be nice but in winter keep this in mind. Consider a loop walk going through the tunnel and returning via the track along the river. If by bike, consider the full cycle trail from Paeroa to Waihi and back (50km) or a shorter version. Bikes including eBikes available for hire nearby if you don't have your own. The river flows from Waihi down to Paeroa.

Illuminated old railroad tunnel. Not a big attraction, but unusual for a hiking and biking trail.
