The footbridge was removed due to its dilapidated condition, and the local trail signage has been updated. A new footbridge is not planned. Update February 2026: Reconstruction is planned for the end of 2026 and is expected to cost €1.3 million.

The Brugg Backwater is an oxbow lake of the Schussen River that was separated from the Schussen during river straightening. The approximately 100-meter-long and 10-meter-wide body of water has dense riparian vegetation. Fishing in the backwater is available for perch, pike, carp, tench, and whitefish. The parish church of St. Jakobus Maior in Brochenzell dates back to the late Romanesque period. Its current appearance dates back to a renovation by the Lords of Humpis in 1624 and the Baroque redesign in 1734.
