Voigtsberg Castle was the administrative center of the southern Vogtland for almost 600 years. After its destruction in the Thirty Years' War, Voigtsberg Castle was rebuilt as a palace in 1633.

You shouldn't expect to see a castle or castle ruins here. All that remains is a moat filled with water around the former location of the castle. But the whole thing is beautifully situated in the Zeidelweiden valley.

The castle also includes a round, 22 m high tower, which has been preserved to this day. It is a watchtower - a lookout that originally served to protect the trade route from Bohemia to Saxony. The Neubergers were actually a family of knights who used this trade route to Saxony for their forays from this castle. They attacked and stole from the traders who used this route.
