The Martini power plant in Haunstetten, a district of Augsburg, is a historic hydroelectric power plant built in the 19th century. It uses the hydropower of the Lochbach, a canal that branches off from the Lech and flows through Haunstetten. Originally, the power plant served to supply energy to the local industry, in particular the Martini company, which was active in the textile sector. Today, the power plant is operated by Martini GmbH & Co. KG, which specializes in real estate, forestry and renewable energy generation. In addition to the hydroelectric power plant, the company also operates photovoltaic systems and open-space energy parks in order to contribute to the energy supply in a sustainable and emission-free manner. The Martini power plant is an example of the successful integration of historic industrial plants into modern energy concepts and contributes to the region's sustainable energy supply.

A fish pass was built at Lech barrage 22 near Unterbergen to improve the ecological continuity of the Lech for migratory fish species. This measure enables fish to overcome the barrage and continue their natural migration routes. Details of the fish pass: • Construction: The facility is designed as a near-natural bypass stream that offers fish the most natural passage possible. • Location: It is located on the western bank of the barrage and can be reached via a hiking trail. • Significance for ecology: The fish pass promotes biodiversity in the Lech, as it enables various fish species to reach their spawning grounds upstream. The fish pass is not only ecologically valuable, but also an interesting destination for nature lovers and hikers. There are numerous hiking trails along the Lech that lead to the barrage and the fish pass. A popular route is the “Lechstaustufe 22 - Unterbergen - Fischtreppe Runde von Unterbergen”, which is described on the Komoot platform. Visitors can observe how the system works and learn more about the efforts to renature the Lech. It is recommended to pay attention to local instructions and to be considerate of nature so as not to disturb the animals' habitats.

Lake Mandicho is not only a popular local recreation area, but also plays an important role in flood protection and ecology on the Lech. Dam 23 regulates the water level, protects the surrounding areas from flooding and secures the electricity supply through hydropower. Special features and activities • Nature conservation and biodiversity: The area around Lake Mandicho provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. The fish ladder and the bypass waterway created in 2016 are ecological improvements that allow migratory fish to bypass the dam and migrate back through the Lech. This contributes significantly to the restoration of natural fish migration routes. • Diverse leisure activities: The lake not only attracts bathers and water sports enthusiasts, but is also a hotspot for bird watchers. Many birds use the shore areas as a resting and breeding ground, which makes the lake attractive for ornithologists and nature lovers. • Events: Occasionally, events and competitions take place around the lake, such as water sports events or nature tours. Especially in summer, Lake Mandicho also attracts many families for picnics and shared activities. • Cultural significance: The name “Lake Mandicho” honors the legendary Bavarian prince Mandicho, which indicates the historical significance of the region. Lake Mandicho combines modern technical functions with nature conservation and leisure activities and is a

To the north of Lake Martini there is a field of blooming poppies. Unfortunately, the flowers will not last long.
