The Rifugio Monte Stino, at 1,437 m, is nestled in the Val Sabbia, between Lake Idro and Lake Garda. Opened in 2014, it offers typical local cuisine and large outdoor spaces. There is no possibility of overnight stay. Next to the refuge is the Chiesetta degli Alpini. It is open all year round, but to book and check openings I recommend visiting the refuge website: https://www.facebook.com/people/Rifugio-Monte-Stino

Nice rest area with barbecue area, rain protection when the weather changes and a great panorama.

The refuge is located at 1940m, on the border between Val Camonica and Val di Scalve. Amazing cuisine with typical dishes and homemade desserts.

I ate at the refuge and was able to recharge there. Funnily enough, I asked a hiker for directions, who sent me toward Dimaro via the Passo de Contrabandierie, saying, "Quite steep but possible." I cursed the guy at least 1,000 times on the climb. 27 kg bike, 15 kg bag. It wasn't fun, more like a near-death experience. The only way to get there was with the bike lying on the bag. Dangerous: 6/10 Was it a thrill? Damn it, and I'll take the wrong path again.

Excellent place to catch your breath and stop for a moment to reflect and why not have a beer at the refuge and a nap 😂
