Punanga Manu o Te Anau / Te Anau Bird Sanctuary This is where sick or needy native birds are cared for. This gives you the opportunity to see them up close, which would not be possible in the wild.

No controls were carried out here… why should they? You can also just do a day tour on the Kepler Track

There are a few suspension bridges here, but each one is fascinating and beautiful

This suspension bridge is the second official entry on Kepler Track (with that of Te Anau Lake). This entrance is however more isolated since it is quite far from Te Anau. To start Kepler Track here, you will need to be motorized. A car park allows you to leave your vehicle for the time of the trek. Even if you are not parked here, take the time to take the small fork to see this Indiana Jones-like bridge. Half cross it and get a great view of the Waiau River.

Fiordland National Park has two entrances, from Te Anau. This bridge is one of them. Be careful, once you have passed it, it is absolutely necessary that you have your entry permit. Controls take place in the national parks (and they are essential for you to book in the refuges). From this bridge you can enjoy a beautiful view of Te Anau Lake.
