Old historic building, worth seeing.

I've been observing this supported house for about five years, and I can only say that nothing beats a good temporary solution. 😂

What was once the cemetery of St. Gertraud Church in the Guben suburb of Frankfurt (Oder) is now Gertraudenpark, located between the church and the House of Arts, the former St. Spiritus Hospital. Those who wander through the park with their eyes open will still find old gravestones of such famous figures as the poet Ewald von Kleist, for whom the monument was donated by the Frankfurt Freemasons' Lodge.

Construction of the town hall in Frankfurt (Oder) began in 1253. It was built in the North German Brick Gothic style. Initially, the building served primarily as a two-story merchant hall with a council chamber and courtroom. The magnificent south gable was added in the second half of the 14th century. The gilded, floating herring on a fishing rod on the gable dates from 1454. It symbolizes the importance of the city of Frankfurt in the medieval herring trade. It's still a beautiful building to me.

In April 1945, the church was severely damaged by a fire in the city center. The ruins were secured in the 1950s. Since 1979, the sacred building has been gradually renovated. A prerequisite for the continued use of St. Mary's Church was the conclusion of a lease agreement between the Protestant parish and the city in 1974.

A beautiful, well-kept park, where, in addition to the Kleist monument, three old tombstones can be discovered. The square next to St. Gertraud's Church served as a cemetery until 1801 and was then converted into a municipal park.

This impressive neo-Gothic building, built between 1899 and 1902, rivals other Prussian postal buildings. Its best days are over, and the German Post Office will vacate the building in 2025.

The monument is located between houses, probably a former railway workers' settlement, on a hill from which one has a beautiful view of the Gertraudenkirche.
