Time and again, along the path that runs along the old high bank of the Lech River toward Lake Forggensee, new vistas and views open up, as between the houses and gardens, you gaze across the rooftops of the valley floor to the Allgäu and Ammergau Alps. The name of the promenade says it all: Perched on a rock on the opposite bank of the Lech River is Neuschwanstein, King Ludwig II's fairytale castle.
