Right next to the bridge is the pub "The Boat Inn", which is a great place to stop for a bite to eat. It's only a short detour to the pub from Offa's Dyke Path.

This is quite a dilapidated metal railway bridge dating from 1876 but it is in a really exceptional beautiful location. The bridge was closed to railway traffic in 1964 but has been kept open because of the footbridge. It is also a grade 2 listed building.

The section is one of the many wooded areas incorporated into the Forest of Dean. The forest was designated the first national forest park in 1938. Today it is a wildlife haven and very popular with tourists. It is still a working forest, producing sustainable timber for the UK market.

Next to the bridge is a nice shop and a lovely park with some very comfortable seats, especially good for aching backs.

There is a lovely pub on one side of the bridge or village stores on the other- both great for a mid-ride refuel.

A gravel continuation of the Wye Valley Railway path that gets you off the main road for a few km before dropping you off at the pub and the railway bridge. Really pleasant. Bigger tyres recommended but doable on 28s.

Can definitely make a day of this, take a packed lunch or buy from the cafe and go round the woods twice. Lots of different routes to take through the woods too.
