The Old Street footpath follows the line of an ancient Roman road between York and Tadcaster. It’s a peaceful grassy trail through farmland and woods, with lovely countryside views.

Watch out for fast trains! Always wait for the green light before crossing the railway – trains pass frequently and at high speed.

This 10 km (6.4 miles) traffic-free flat route follows the old East Coast mainline railway and features a scale model of the Solar System.

Grade II-listed early 19th-century manor house and estate designed by architect Anthony Salvin for Henry Preston, the High Sheriff of Yorkshire, in 1828. Lies on a previously populated village called Moreby or Moorby, the Scandinavian word for "farmstead on the marsh". The manor was (sadly) converted to apartments in 2024.

Acaster South Ings is a Site of Special Scientific Interest consisting of two alluvial flood-meadows, and was designated as an SSSI in 1988 because it supports diverse fauna and flora, some of which is rare in the Vale of York area. One of the rarities is the tansy beetle, which feeds on the leaves of the tansy plant. Access on foot via the public footpath along the Ouse riverbank from Acaster Marine in Acaster Malbis.

The sculptures for the four rocky planets are all very close to each other and lie within a 300m stretch of the track.

Copmanthorpe is a sought-after village situated just a 15-minute drive from the city centre of York. The Royal Oak is a quintessential Yorkshire pub with a friendly vibe and welcomes weary walkers looking to rest their legs. There's also a convenience store, including a Co-op supermarket, and a lovely café called Little Acorns.
