This area can only be accesses beyond the gate if you are a member of the Peace Oak Association. A good view can be seen from the gate however, where I took this picture.

Have look at Bladon's parish Church of St Martin's. There has been a church on this site for over 800 years. The place oozes history - Henry 2 and Tomas Becket walked together here. Edward the Black Prince grew up here and Elizabeth 1 was imprisoned nearby.

For some of the route near Bladon Bridge you are supposed to pay a fee.

Woodstock is derived from old English, meaning a clearing in the trees. This is because Woodstock used to be part of the Royal Forest of Wychwood, most of which has since disappeared, cut down for industry and replaced by farmland. The market town today is a good base for exploring the gently rolling limestone uplands of northern Oxfordshire. Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its wonderful grounds are set to the south and west of the town.

Graham Piggott, Bladon, Oxfordshire; a sculptor in clay, creating handcrafted ceramic collections of characters from Literature, Fantasy and Theatre based on true to life studies of human & animal forms. Bladon Bridge as we call it today was originally referred to as 'New Bridge' and built by Sir William Chambers in 1772. It was named 'New Bridge' to distinguish it from Vanbrugh's Grand Bridge and replaced an earlier structure.

The inspired work of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown has created a lasting legacy in the Park at Blenheim Palace. The visionary master landscaper constructed the Great Lake and planted thousands of trees in his ten-year tenure here, engineering a landscape that appears natural but is actually 'contrived to pleasing effect'. The Park is now home to several Sites of Special Scientific Interest including the Great Lake and the ancient oaks in High Park.
