Tamar lakes are a scenic place to visit with a gravel track that circulates around it, it does however have a couple off places that can get boggy after heavy rain!

There is a route through the grounds of the church. This leaves the site at the rear of the cemetery. The route is little traveled and at some point seems to be overgrown by weeds / nettles, but can be continued.

Evangelical Anglican church in the village of Poughill. Much of the church building dates from the 14th century. It is famous for its splendid carved oak bench ends. On entering the building an immediate impression is created by the magnificent pews and bench ends, the old communion table and the officiant's desk facing the people, which is a rarely found survival of earlier times. The front hall of the church is closed with a metal fence (against birds/animals). A great cafe to enjoy a coffee or something more substantial. Overlooking the Weir, there are plenty of wildfowl to enjoy on the water. Always a strong possibility of a Kingfisher.

Just east of the A39 Atlantic HIghway is the Helebridge Basin. Regeneration work has been taking place here. The basin has been dredged and the canalside has been cleared so that visitors can get an idea of what the area looked like when the canal was in use.

Widemouth Bay is a long sandy beach popular with families and surfers. During the summer you'll find a cafe, an ice-cream & snack shack, plenty of surf schools and public toilets. There are fantastic views of the beach and coastline from the car park. There are lifeguards present May to September and at weekends/half term during October.
