The present day church consists of a medieval chancel with north vestry (now housing an organ) and south wall chancel door, clerestoried nave, north and south aisles, south porch, west tower and spire, and west-end vestries and galilee added in the 20th century. It is set within a conventional churchyard that is walled and gated on Church Lane (north side). A chapel is said to have existed on the banks of the River Trent at Attenborough n 964 AD and was overbuilt with the stone chancel of the present day church.

One of the large ponds that are part of the Attenborough Nature Reserve. These pits used to be gravel quarries until they became a nature reserve in 1966. They are now nationally important for the birds that use this site.

The Attenborough Reserve was opened in 1966. It's a well visited and nationally important nature reserve, home to over 250 species of bird. It's one of the best sites in the UK to see Kingfishers and is also home to the rarer Bitton and Otter.

cracking little bike track, went on my XC mountain bike but id imagine you'd be just as happy on your gravel bike. not too far from food and refreshments here aswell

Cafe was open at 9.00 this morning and serving food (13th Aug). Lovely place for walking (dog's optional), cycling, bird watching, photography. or just meandering and dreaming about living in one of those gorgeous boat houses on the other side of the river! We park in Chilwell retail park car park, this morning we got a coffee from Costa before doing a 6.4mile circular-ish walk. You can make up walks from very short to over 8 miles without walking the same path twice.

At Beeston Marina you should stop for a cup of coffee or a lovely scone the Coffee shop there!

Be aware that, from 1st November 2021, there is a £3 compulsory car parking fee. They have number-plate recognition.

A great place to run or walk. Best direction to avoid crowds is towards Trent Lock by the river from the visitors Centre and then by the side of the canal a distance of about 3.25 miles on the flat. Just the right distance to practice your first 10k or just keep fit. If you jog or walk to Cranfleet lock and turn back to the visitors centre it is about 5 miles. If you go the other direction you come to the Boathouse Café at Beeston Marina about 2 miles away for a great breakfast of bacon cobs or the full works If you want it (all fantastic value). All in all Attenborough Nature Reserve is a great place to visit.

Cafe, shop, information, toilets, ducks, swans and geese.. Brilliant!!!

Paved or unpaved, the choice is yours, watch out for the cyclists on the paved :)
