On the path between the Haut-Geer nature reserve and the watermill, you have a view of the ruins of the former Hollogne Castle. Only a 17th-century tower and a 16th-century building remain. The castle itself was built in 1652 on the foundations of an old fortress. The site was designated a protected area in 1976. The watermill ("Moulin Castral de Hollogne-sur-Geer") was once part of the castle.

A beautiful area of (only) 34.5 hectares, characterized by reed beds, cattail ponds, and pools fringed by shrubs or with open banks... The Hornebos stream. For centuries, every native villager has known it as the 'Hornebeek'. But apparently, that name was too simple for some planners 🙄

Deciduous forest traversed by the Hornebeek stream. In recent decades, it has dried out considerably, especially during the summer, with the stream also drying up because the Water Group operates a drinking water extraction facility here. This permit is expiring so the stream and wet forest can slowly recover.

For decades, the clearest water has been pumped from the ground here. But its operation is ending because the impact on the surrounding area proved too great.

Through the Hornebos forest of deciduous trees and shrubs. Nature management here means "leave everything that falls or blows over." The Hornebeek stream accompanies you along the avenue. The first source immediately runs to the left of the road, while the second source emerges 200m from the right, passing under the road, where they continue together.

Crossroads of five roads, also known locally as the "five-way intersection." For centuries, lime trees with chapels dotted the fields served as beacons to guide people in the distance.
