Jezerce Kraljičin zdenac and the excursion site of the same name right next to it (529 masl), due to the well-maintained hiking trail and proximity to the town, are one of the most visited locations on Medvednica. Unfortunately, the facility is not operational.

Ideal for the early morning quick hiking!

This beautiful chapel, near the summit of Medvednica, is known as Majke Božje Sljemenske, Kraljice Hrvata (Mother of God of Sljeme, the Queen of Croatia). Constructed in 1932 and designed by architect Jurje Denzler, it's inspired by Croatian motifs and evokes the first Croatian statues from Dalmatia. The chapel's altar is made of Brač stone, just like parts of Washington DC's White House.

The largest mountain hut on Medvednica, Planinarski dom Puntijarka was built by the Zagreb Mountaineering Association in 1954. It's also known as Planinarski dom Ivan Pačkovski (the Ivan Pačkovski mountain lodge), after the man who was so instrumental in its construction. The hut can accommodate around 200 guests, while there's enough space outside to seat 300!

Grafičar is a classic mountain hut serving good local food, such as Bosnian bean soup. It's located on the main Medvednica ridge and is ideally situated for those ascending via the beguiling fort at Medvedgrad. It's also just a short walk from the hut to Sljeme, Medvednica's main summit.

Sljeme, at 3,396 feet (1,035 m), is Medvednica’s highest point ('sljeme' means 'summit' in Croatian). An icon of Zagreb, it's adorned by the OIV Tower, which is home to a panoramic observation deck for views across the Zagorje region and even as far as Slovenia's mountains. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the vicinity of the summit too.

The prehistory of the parish begins with the construction of the small church of the Mother of God, Queen of the Croats in Sljemen, which was completed in 1932 and consecrated in 1933. The parish was founded on August 3, 1963 for the needs of mountaineers, tourists, guests of Tomislav's home and for patients in the Brestovac hospital. This year (2023) the parish celebrates jubilees: the 90th anniversary of the dedication of the church and the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the parish. The parish is touristic, because there are no permanently settled believers, only mountaineers and tourists. The only Croatian parish where no one dies - there is neither a cemetery nor a register of the dead. There are only baptisms and weddings. The most visited are the annual forgiveness masses - the Sunday after July 15 (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) and Christmas midnight, which should be experienced at least once.
