Punta Alberete is a marshy area made up mainly of fresh water. It was created following the reclamation works of the Lamone mouth. The reclamation was carried out by the Papal State towards the middle of the 19th century. The whole area of Punta Alberete was used in the past to supply the city of Ravenna with water for domestic and industrial use, by virtue of the natural phytoremediation of its waters.
