In front of Dolmabahçe Palace stands the elegant 19th-century clock tower. A beautiful example of Ottoman architecture with Western influences. As you stroll through this part of Istanbul, it's a wonderful place to pause and absorb the rich history.

The Nusretiye Mosque is a richly decorated mosque in the Tophane district of Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Türkiye. It was built between 1823 and 1826 by Sultan Mahmud II.

It's worth a visit

Construction began in 1853, and it brought the Ottoman Empire to the brink of bankruptcy. Later, the rulers rarely stayed there. Admission price 2025: 50 euros for non-Turks

We visited the palace and were impressed. Entrance fee was almost €40 per person. Photography is prohibited inside the palace. But it's worth a visit. Very impressive.

The clock tower, built by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid Pasha and taking its name from the Nusretiye Mosque next to it, is located on Mebusan Caddesi with his signature. With the Zenit brand watch, the quality is probably of great historical importance.

It was originally founded by Sultan Selim III. founded, but this building burned down completely in 1823. Sultan Mahmut II then had the mosque rebuilt under its current name and completed in 1825. The name Nusretiye (“Victory”) refers to the successful suppression of the Janissary uprisings.
