All "Trees of the Year" since 1989 have found their place on this path, including solid and weatherproof signage. The newest specimen is a whitebeam, the Tree of the Year 2024. Due to the drought of recent years, unfortunately not all trees survived and some had to be replaced in 2022, which explains the small size of the young trees in some places. The path climbs continuously until we reach the fire watchtower on the Galgenberg.

The common whitebeam (Sorbus aria) is a native deciduous tree and was chosen as Tree of the Year 2024. It grows to a height of 15-20 meters when fully grown. This freshly planted specimen is still a long way from that—but everyone starts small.
