In the Buchholz State Forest, hikes mostly take place through shady deciduous and coniferous forests. Since almost all the spruce trees, in particular, have died, you can now also enjoy the views over the Bergisches Land region near Solingen and Wuppertal. Reforestation has begun, but it will take some time before visibility is possibly restricted again.

Beautiful scenery, always worth the effort! But the climbs and descents are quite steep.

Beautiful section of the route between Friedenstal and Gräfrath.

The Steinbachtal and Flockertsholzer Bachtal valleys are among the steepest and deepest valleys in the city of Klingenstadt. These nature reserves lie below the highest point in Gräfrath and Solingen. This is why the area around Flockertsberg was once called Bergische Schweiz.

The Gräfrath lighthouse can be seen on the right edge of the picture. Across the field you have a great view of the Wupper valley to Cronenberg and Remscheid.
