A superb trail from the Saar up to the Cloef. Almost alpine.

A towpath is a path along the bank of a river or canal that was formerly used for towing ships. Towing refers to the pulling of ships by people or draft animals before steamships revolutionized shipping. Whether this is actually the origin, however, I don't know.
