The Kyrenia Ship is considered the best-preserved ancient vessel in the Levantine Sea. Dating from the late 4th century BC, it sank off the north coast of Cyprus, where it was discovered in 1965, raised between 1967 and 1969, and subsequently restored. The Kyrenia Ship contained approximately 380 amphorae, mostly wine vessels from Rhodes (aha - 😊). In ancient times, such vessels were usually marked with amphora stamps, which can be dated relatively precisely.

Visit the cafe corner, it is a very artistic place, home made sweets and very friendly service. Truly special.

The village was abandoned by its Greek residents after the division of Cyprus. Today, the former ghost village is inhabited almost exclusively by British and Germans, who had to commit to leasing, maintaining and modernizing the houses from the North Cypriot state for at least 25 years - under strict conditions that ensure that the historical character is preserved. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful village in North Cyprus

A real insider tip in the north of Cyprus: The monastery ruins are located above the village of Karsiyaka. The monastery had already been abandoned in 1882, when Lord Kitchener was surveying Cyprus. The complex was quite large and magnificent at the time, but unfortunately no one is taking care of the impressive ruins anymore! It is falling into disrepair, but would be worth preserving. What a shame. To reach the ruins, park the car below at the end of the asphalt road and then walk up. Please be careful when walking, as the ruins are unfortunately not secured.

Hilarion is an impressive ruined hilltop castle in Northern Cyprus, the best preserved in the Pentadactylos. The climb is steep, but "the castle of 1000 rooms" is worth the effort and you will be rewarded with fantastic panoramic views!
