During the Thirty Years' War, the Spanish brought the plague to our region and wiped out a large part of the population from the area around Obing, Pittenhart and Albertaich. They were not allowed to be buried in the local cemeteries, but had to be buried in a mass grave in the forest. This plague cemetery is located about 100 m east of the plague chapel.

Free bicycle transport from Bad Endorf to Obing

A train runs here every now and then, especially in summer. But it's nice to start a short hike through Obing and possibly march towards Pittenhardt.

The circular route around the Obinger See is a good 3.5 kilometers long and takes about an hour to walk if you take your time for the many sculptures along the way. A good dozen local artists have created interesting works of art here from various materials such as stone, steel and wood. Informative texts, e.g. about the former tombstones, explain the art and give food for thought. The bathing areas and jetties along the way are also very nice, as are the many creative seating options, including a wooden washing machine or a bathtub to sit on.

Very nice facility on the beach, surprisingly even open in winter! There are occasional intrepid ice swimmers here!!!
