Lake Moderfitz was first mentioned in a document in 1299 (stagnum Westwitz) and, along with 38 other named lakes, was part of the original estate of the Himmelpfort Monastery. The name may derive from the Old Polabian root form *Vostrovica, meaning "island," which applies to the island in the lake.

The lake is fed by a short stream from the Moderfitzsee and the Woblitz and drains into the Stolpsee via the Mühlenfließ / lock canal Himmelpfort.

The Himmelpfort Christmas House offers a Christmas-themed parlor, which is part of an idyllically located café between the monastery ruins, brewery, and herb garden.

Very beautiful building. Unfortunately, the Klosterbräu is no longer brewed.

Due to its location close to the road and the lock canal (bridge), the building immediately stands out. The construction is unusual. After all, this former monastery brewery has a very long and tragic history. For example, it burned down in 2010 and was beautifully rebuilt.

It's a bit inconspicuous and certainly doesn't offer any spectacular attractions, but the small area is inviting and has nice details. You can also buy something and even get a snack.
