The Elsensee is a lake in the Grünheide chain of lakes. It is 18 hectares in size and between 2 m and a maximum of 3.5 m deep.

The construction of the Kagel Church began in 1868 with the laying of the foundations. The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone on the east side of the arch of the apse took place on April 30, 1869. And in the same year the construction of the tower started. The organ was completed by August Ferdinand Dinse. The evangelical church was finally inaugurated on September 11, 1871 by General Superintendent Dr. Hoffman.

Unfortunately, you won't find anything about this beautiful old fire station on the village square in Kagel. Surprisingly, it is not included in the monument protection list. The Kagel volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1907, and the tool shed can also be seen in a historical picture from that time, so it must be from that time 🤔?

If that used to be a lido, it certainly isn't anymore. It is still a bathing area, but the so-called "Naturbadestelle Elsensee". The Elsensee has lost more than 1.50 m in water level in recent years. So it seems only a matter of time before bathing will be possible here at all. After all, there is a large sunbathing lawn, toilet and glass containers, rubbish bins and parking facilities.

The extremely interesting and very easy to ride bike path between Kienbaum and Kagels is a highlight from my point of view. The historic school building can be seen at the entrance to the village.
