A municipality of about 1,500 inhabitants in the Canton of Ticino, Airolo is located at the foot of the Gotthard Pass. It is well-known among cyclists as the starting point of the famous Tremola panoramic road.

Located 5 minutes from Airolo train station (westward toward the Gotthard Pass), this building features magnificent murals. At its center is the popular "Gotthard Post" painting (the original was painted by Rudolf Koller in 1873 and is housed in the Zurich National Museum). The impressive mural of the Ticino Power Plant combines old with new.
