9月 29, 2025, Hakkenberg - 252m
The Hakkenberg is one of the higher points in the Limburg hills, at an altitude of 252 meters. From here, you have a beautiful view of the surrounding rolling fields, forests, and villages that reflect the character of South Limburg.

The Vaalserberg has been included in the cycling classic Amstel Gold Race several times. The climb is then conquered once via the Dutch side (east side), as the eleventh climb after the Camerig and before the Gemmenicherweg. In the Amstel Gold Race the slope is referred to as Drielandenpunt. (Wikipedia)

With a height of no less than 322.4 meters above NAP, the Vaalserberg is the highest mountain in the Netherlands (with the exception of the mountains in the Caribbean). So you are standing on the roof of the Low Countries! The mountain is not only known for its height, but also for the three country point you will find here; here the borders of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet. In addition, there are plenty of activities for young and old on and around the top, so hang out here for a while.

Tip: go at sunrise... beautiful to see! Photo 141 and further. Unfortunately, the sunset is not beautiful because of the snowworld building

3月 28, 2023, Hakkenberg - 252m
This peak is one of the seven steepest peaks in South Limburg. A pedestrian circuit goes around these 7 hills. Of these, the Hekkenberg is the highest!

12月 10, 2022, Dreiländereck Vaalserberg
The Dreiländerpunkt is probably the most frequented area at the Dreiländereck for "selfies" or the like. If you don't like tourist hype of this kind, but still want to take a photo here without umpteen other people being on it, you should come here as early as possible in the morning and not at the weekend or during the holidays...

The Wilhelmina staircase, which allows you to climb the Wilhelminabert hill, is said to be the longest in the Netherlands. Length: 248 meters (Bueren Liège: 194 m) Elevation: 95 m (Bueren Liège: 67 m) All for 508 steps! (Bueren Liège: 374 steps) (less "difficult" than that of Bueren because less steep) It is made up of 22 flights of steps separated by a landing. The lower sections are wider, and have 20 steps, than those at the top, which are narrower and have 24 steps. This is only to reinforce the optical effect by accentuating the perspective. The 360° view from its summit is worth a look.

The hill has a height of 225 meters above sea level. From the top, in clear weather, you can see the Claus power station near Roermond, the slag heaps of Genk in Belgium, the Halden in Germany and the lignite power station near Würselen. And to the south you have a view to where the mountains continue: the Eifel, the High Fens with the highest point in Belgium and the Vaalserberg.
