In 1626 the plague came to Schlotheim with the Thirty Years' War. The saying on the lion house calls on the residents to persevere: “In adversity, have the courage of a lion, trust God, things will turn out well!”

The Drudenfuß in Schlotheim's coat of arms probably dates back to 1626. That year, the plague raged in the city and the druid's foot was supposed to be a magical symbol to protect the residents.

A real eye-catcher is the police helicopter on the roof. Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer managed.

The Schlothheim windmill was built in 1861 and was in use until the 1960s. Today it is a protected monument. Right next door is the Seilermuseum, where you can learn about the history of the city's rope-making trade. More information at https://geschichte.schlotheim.info/
