The walkways offer a beautiful view of the lake, but visitors aren't supposed to walk on them, presumably because they're simply not safe. They creak quite loudly, especially at the beginning...

A beautiful, open market square with a beautiful fountain in the center of Breitungen. One of the oldest market squares in the Hesse-Thuringia region, the Breitungen market square was established at the beginning of the 12th century. In 1114, Emperor Henry V granted Hersfeld Abbey the right to hold a fair in Breitungen and a cattle market every Saturday.
