The Thieves' Tower, a round and delicate-looking tower, was once part of Bad Säckingen's city wall. In the 17th century, it was incorporated into the grounds of Schönau Castle. In 1864, Säckingen manufacturer Theodor Bally had the Thieves' Tower rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style. Since 2005, the romantic tower has been used for civil weddings and receptions. Tip: From the Thieves' Tower, enjoy the most beautiful view of the Rhine and one of the city's landmarks: the wooden bridge. Today, the tower can be booked for private or public events such as weddings, etc.

You can climb up a small path from the lakeside to the left of the rock. There's a small seating area at the top, but the view of the lake is largely overgrown. Please note: the path down the back, away from the lake, is only accessible for the first few meters, then it falls into disrepair and is completely overgrown.

It's picturesquely situated and worth a visit, but a good level of fitness is required. Unfortunately, the upper access is currently closed due to a landslide (a fir tree fell and swept away the access steps directly in front of the ruins). Therefore, you have to take the longer route over the bridge further down.
