They paid large sums of money to the respective sovereign, as well as to the town council, for the right to live in the town. The letters of protection explicitly granted the resident Jews a burial site. This was located "beyond the Wutach River" in the knacker's forest, referred to in the cottager's chronicle as "the The cemetery is referred to as the "Jewish burial site above Schaffhauser Weg." A very well-preserved wolf pit. According to the information panel, the last wolf in the area was killed in 1764. Wolves have returned since then—at least in the Black Forest, as far as I know. Will such traps ever be used again?

The village has been attractively landscaped, and the church forms the center of Stühlingen. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments nearby.

Nature recovers quickly from such measures. A beautiful path with beautifully designed benches runs along the Wutach River.
