The small town of Gaienhofen is a true artistic landscape 🎨🖋️🗒️ Famous poets and painters were attracted and inspired by the place, such as Hermann Hesse (who lived there from 1904 to 1912). Gaienhofen is also known as "Mittlere Höri" (Middle Höri).

The Catholic parish church of St. John and Vitus in Horn, Gaienhofen, is an impressive baroque hall church that dates back to a Romanesque predecessor church. It is located on a hill on the eastern edge of the village and is visible from afar. The church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and the holy martyr Vitus. The church was extensively rebuilt in 1717 under the Prince-Bishop of Constance, Johann Franz Schenk von Stauffenberg, and was given its current baroque appearance. The stepped gable tower was built around 1553 and restored in 16731. The interior of the church contains valuable works of art, including two altarpieces from 1500, painted by Matthäus Gutrecht.

It was first designated as a nature reserve in 1958 and expanded to a total of 188 hectares in 1997. The area covers the easternmost tip of the peninsula and is known for its diverse flora and fauna. The aim of the protection is to preserve the Hornspitze as a habitat for numerous plant and animal species, some of which are threatened with decline or extinction. It also serves as an important breeding, resting and wintering area for wetland bird species. The nature reserve is largely inaccessible and can only be seen from the Lake Constance hiking trail.
