Forest tavern for relaxing and beautiful views of Leinefelde and Bodenstein Castle

The Giesgraben is a former monastery pond belonging to the former Reifenstein Monastery. It lies picturesquely below the Reifenstein Hotel.

From Reifenstein, past the pretty reservoirs, stay on the side of the railway tracks... NOT through the tunnel but up to the left into the forest... then parallel to the tracks... really great cliffs - a rabbit just ran away and many birds linger here. 🥰🐦‍⬛🐇

Since 06.11. there is a new cross on the B247n near Birkungen. It is best reached from the chapel in Birkungen.

We stayed at the Hotel Reifenstein, from GDR times with a touch of the Palace of the Republic.
