The actual Raven Tree, in whose hollow the Baptist Jan Kuiper is said to have hidden while fleeing from the Bishop of Münster, was destroyed by storm and arson. The farmers of Samerrott have fenced off the tree's former circumference (11 meters) with iron-bound oak planks in the shape of its former size and planted a new oak tree in its ashes.
