Perleberg is a picturesque little town with a historic old town and is located in the heart of the Prignitz. The town has many well-preserved half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and a charming town centre. The market square is the centre of the old town and is dominated by the imposing town hall from the Renaissance period. The Roland statue on the market square is one of the town's landmarks and symbolises the town charter granted in 1239. The Stepenitz river meanders through the town and creates idyllic places that invite you to linger. The rural surroundings are ideal for cycling tours, especially in the Elbe Valley nature reserve. Perleberg is a town that impresses with its history, its closeness to nature and its quiet charm. It is worth visiting as a destination for a tour or as a short detour.

The Stepenitz is a beautiful river that meanders through the beautiful landscape of the Prignitz. You can even watch salmon, as attempts have been made to reintroduce the fish here since 2000.

The Perleberg post office was built in the 17th century at the intersection of several fixed postal routes. After the station was expanded several times, this building was built as an imperial post office between 1894 and 1896. In 1899, a telephone exchange was set up, which was housed in a new building in 1925. In 1987, the post office building was honored on a Deutsche Post stamp.

The fountain at Mönchort shows us today the laborious process of drawing water from a well before the construction of the central water supply in Perleberg in 1905.
