We were there today. The path from the Meurasteine down to the campsite by the river was a trail of burnt trees. There isn't a single tree left at the campsite, and it looks very desolate. Branches are everywhere. We got the stamp and left. In and of itself, this could be a very beautiful place. It just needs some cleaning.

Even on March 25 the path to the Meurasteine was not yet passable due to broken trees/remains from the forest fire in 2024.

Before hiking down to the Meurasteine, you can take a rest there. There are no benches directly at the Meurasteine; you'll find another one down by the Schlage stream.

It's in the middle of the forest and open. I'm afraid I have to take back the "in the middle of the forest" claim. But it was open at the time, and I didn't expect too much. It looks bigger than it is.

There are several options to start hikes from the Leipzig Tower. Unfortunately, the tower and the restaurant are closed due to construction work. 🙄

Currently not accessible on the Touringenrunde. There was a forest fire at the Meurasteine in July 2024 and the section of the route is impassable. Burnt trees everywhere on the paths, many still hanging as widowmakers...Please be sensible and avoid the slope (start of the Meurasteine to the stamp point by the river)
