The Au (Sieg) train station was opened in 1860 on the Deutz-Gießener railway, which is now part of the Sieg line. In 1887, the Oberwesterwald railway also went into operation, providing a connection to Limburg (Lahn). As the last station on the Sieg line in North Rhine-Westphalia, Au (Sieg) is important, for example, as the terminus of two S-Bahn lines and for local transport fares.
