干潟湿原は、雨の多い静かな森林地帯の中低山地に位置し、そのおかげで珍しい動植物が生息する特別な湿原景観が発達しました。今日では、自然に近い森林、部分的に再植林された地域、そして広範囲に利用されている草原を散策します。

There are plenty of parking spaces available here, and there are further open parking areas directly in front of and opposite the main road.

The site is part of the "Enchanting Legends of the Volme Valley." Numerous tales of witches and demons are said to have gathered here in ancient times. According to some legends, the witches' broomsticks can still be heard flying after dark. An audio station is installed at a bench near the oak tree. Visitors can scan a QR code with their smartphone to experience one of the local legends as an audio drama.

The Hülsebach stream is primarily of local, ecological, and hydrological importance. It drains a small, wooded area near the villages of Buschhöh and Neuemühle and feeds its water into the local river system, which ultimately flows into the Fürwigge and Verse reservoirs.

Due to drought and bark beetle infestation, a wide panorama of the Sauerland region has now opened up. From this vantage point, one can see the Ebbe valley towards Herscheid and as far as Hemer on the horizon.
