The Protestant church, with its pointed tower visible from afar, marks the historic center of Mennighüffen. A place of worship has existed here since it was first mentioned in 1055. The medieval church building from the 13th century was badly damaged in the fire of 1748 and replaced in 1820 by a neo-Gothic structure made of Porta sandstone. The medieval west tower survived, without its spire, until 1928, when it, too, had to be demolished due to dilapidation. Due to objections from the building authorities, the new tower was not built on the foundations of the old one, but rather on the east side of the nave. Thus, with the remodeling of 1930/31, the church acquired its current unique appearance: the tower and entrance to the east, the choir and chancel to the west. This is how you can view it from the outside by walking around it or pushing your bike.
