A cunning Franciscan friar and his young novice seek the truth – and find themselves amidst murder and the Inquisition. 🎬When star director Jean-Jacques Annaud and producer Bernd Eichinger set out in 1986 to find a suitable location for their film adaptation of Umberto Eco's classic "⚘️The Name of the Rose⚘️", it was the beginning of a global career for Eberbach Monastery⛪️ as a screen star.

🍇Steinberg Vineyard: It is arguably one of the most famous and oldest vineyards in the world🍇: Known as the favorite vineyard of the monks of Eberbach Abbey, who established viticulture in the Rheingau, Steinberg remains the sole property of the Hessian State Wineries Kloster Eberbach. Furthermore, with approximately 34 hectares of vineyards, Steinberg is the largest contiguous vineyard holding in the Rheingau. Unique is the 3.8-kilometer-long and up to four-meter-high stone wall, which the monks painstakingly built to protect against grape thieves and wild animals. Above all, this wall, preserved and restored to this day, protects the grapes in Steinberg from the cold air currents from the nearby forest and, by retaining heat, creates a unique microclimate🍇. The deep slate soils found here produce a high-acid, mineral wine that also ages well🍇.

It always surprises me that so few people bend down to pick up the fallen fruit.

On this day, September 2, 2025, the only remaining evidence that there had once been a bridge here was the remnants. Since there was no water flowing in the streambed, however, I didn't miss anything.
